Neptune Township received two merit awards at the 57th Annual Monmouth County Planning Board Awards Dinner. Midtown Commons was recognized for it’s first phase of redevelopment on West Lake Avenue. Midtown Commons is a 51,000 square foot, $18.5 million office and health center. The first tenant is the Family Health Center from Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The NJ Division of Taxation will be moving into 15,000 feet of space and bringing 75 permanent jobs.
Neptune Recreation ended its morning program with a chance to cool off - under fire truck spray. Participants got a chance to climb on, in, and around and ask questions about the big rig.
Missions 101 is a four-day community service “Experience”, where youth and adults alike will grow spiritually by reaching out in the service of Christ to area home owners, churches and community service agencies. The participants, ages 12-18 (junior and senior high) participated in Neptune’s Paint and Rehab program and worked on a total of 18 projects in Ocean Grove and Neptune.
The FoodBank’s onsite Culinary Skills Training Program helps adults in need of permanent employment get the skills they need for better paid jobs. The program helps men and women become self-sufficient through:

World Changers, a mission group from the Southern Baptist Convention, returned to Neptune for the third year. Students participated in Neptune’s Paint and Rehab Program. They worked in challenging conditions: heat, humidity and rain. A beach party planned in their honor had to be moved to the High School due to threatening storms. Randy Bishop, Township Committeeman and Chair of the World Changers Planning Committee, visited the work sites and offered encouragement. Our community partners made substantial contributions to the success of the project.
Neptune Recreation’s Exercise to Music Class is winding down next week. Some of the participants show off their new workout wear, a tribute to Elaine, the class instructor! Classes will begin again in the fall.
Three softball fields, hundreds of children, 5,000 colored eggs, and lots of prizes-all the makings of a successful Easter Egg Hunt. Neptune Recreation’s Easter Egg Hunt went off on Saturday morning, March 27, with sunny and cool weather. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cottontail were also on hand to share in the fun!
