FLOOD DEVELOPMENT PERMIT REQUIREMENT

19-4.1 Floodplain Development Permit.
A Floodplain Development Permit shall be obtained before any construction or development begins within any Special Flood Hazard Area established in subsection 19-3.2. Click here for the application. The application must demonstrate compliance with all applicable requirements. Submissions may be required to include, but not be limited to; plans drawn to scale showing the nature, location, dimensions, elevations and materials of the structures or area in question; existing or proposed structures, fill, storage of materials, drainage facilities; and the location of the foregoing.
Specifically, the following information is required:
a. Elevation in relation to mean sea level, of the lowest floor (including crawl space or basement) of all structures;
b. Elevation in relation to mean sea level to which any structure has been floodproofed;
c. Certification by a registered professional engineer or architect that the floodproofing methods for any nonresidential structure meet the floodproofing criteria in subsection 19-5.2b;
d. Description of the extent to which any watercourse will be altered or relocated as a result of proposed development;
e. Openings in enclosures below the Design Flood Elevation; and
f. Building materials used below the Design Flood Elevation.
