Annual Independence Day Parade in Ocean Grove sponsored by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association. (Yes, there are two of each picture…computer gremlins liked them so much, they duplicated them).
Mayor Randy Bishop and the Neptune Twp Committee proclaimed June 26th as “Christie Rampone Day”. Christie is Captain of the USA Women’s Soccer Team. The only mother on the team (she has two young daughters), she and her team leave for London soon. Their first game this Olympic season is July 25th. Shout of “USA” “USA” were heard throughout the presentation. A six year old student from Wayside School belted out the National Anthem. Christie, who is a graduate of Point Pleasant Boro High School and Monmouth University, was presented gifts from her alma maters.
Members of Neptune’s American Youth Football and Cheer held their semi-annual Fish Fry on a hot Saturday afternoon. Mayor Randy Bishop stopped by to order lunch
Community Health Day held at the Jane Booker Family Health Center on West Lake Avenue was held outdoors while free health screenings were held indoors. In addition to health services provided by the Health Center, outside agencies also attended and provided handouts of their services. The kids enjoyed rows of fun activities.
It was a full house on Monday afternoon when Lisa from the Philly Zoo on Wheels program brought a few nocturnal animals to visit. The young children asked questions, giggled, and wormed their way closer and closer to the friendly creatures. Sometime during the presentation, children were asked to perform tasks such as rolling their eyes up, down and around like an owl and s t r e t c h like a ferret. Marian the Librarian: when is the next event!
Annual Car Show in Ocean Grove on Main Avenue. This year’s show was among the biggest to date. As Mayor Randy Bishop walked thru the crowds, he recognized some Township employees who were with their vintage cars.
