There was plenty of food at the Caribbean Festival Saturday, August 3rd! Forced inside by the rain, the church celebrated the cultural diversity found in Neptune and the neighboring communities. Among the many dishes were Haitian black rice, Jamaican oxtail, jerk chicken, jerk pork, stringbeans with smoked turkey, Jamaican escovitch (fish), fried chicken, mac and cheese, homemade ginger drink and Jamaican black cake. Pastor Cedric Miller welcomed Mayor Eric Houghtaling, Deputy Mayor Dr. Michael Brantley and Twp Committeemen Randy Bishop and Kevin McMillan who joined in the festivities.

The Children’s Library kicked off their Summer Reading Program with live snakes ‘n’ scales and turtle tales presented by Bill Boesenberg on Monday, June 17th.
Featured were a tarantula, savannah monitor lizard, legless lizard, yellow anaconda, kane toad, salamander (looks like an eel) and a tortoise. The children enjoyed the presentation and had some very interesting questions to ask Mr. Bill, who was very entertaining. Mayor Eric Houghtaling and Police Commissioner Randy Bishop joined in the fun.

The Neptune Township Municipal Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse would like to extend a huge thank you to all who helped make the eighth annual Cops vs. Kids softball game on June 17, 2013 such a success! The game was fun, and the laughs were plenty—even when the game got rained (no, poured) out!
