Neptune Township celebrated the holiday season with a DJ, Donuts, and Dancing with Santa Party on Saturday, December 10. The fun included active games, dress up relay races, pictures with Santa, tattoos, coloring, refreshments, DJ music, and dancing! Thanks to Santa’s helpers: Chappy, Bridget, Robert, and Eric from the Neptune Recreation Committee and Melanie, Cherlynn, Clare, and Travis from Neptune High School, Gene from Summerfield School, the Neptune Township Committee and the Neptune Board of Education.
The Ocean Grove Fishing Club was host for their annual Pearl Harbor Memorial Service held on the Ocean Grove fishing pier. A reception for the veterans followed at the home of Bill Gannon.
Rachel’s Challenge is a program that aims to empower students to create a positive school culture and it was presented at NHS on November 14th. The program is named in memory of Rachel Joy Scott, the first victim of the Columbine HS shootings.The mission of Rachel’s Challenge is to create a safe learning environment for all students by re-establishing civility and delivering proactive antidotes to school violence and bullying. RC was held in the afternoon for students and in the evening for parents and community members.
The 18th Annual Mayor’s Ball, hosted by Mayor Kevin B. McMillan was held at the Jumping Brook Country Club. Due to the generosity of the patrons, the Mayor presented the Recreation Committee with a check for $16,000.
Neptune Township Receives Two Honorable Mention Awards from the Monmouth County Planning Board Members of the Neptune Township Land Use Boards attended the 2011 Planning Award program and dinner hosted by the Monmouth County Planning Board on October 3, 2011 and were awarded honorable mention for two of their projects. “Rain Garden at Jumping Brook Road” was commmended by the Board for the creation of the educational, self-sustaining planted area which requires minimal maintenance.
