World Changers, a mission group from the Southern Baptist Convention, returned to Neptune for the third year. Students participated in Neptune’s Paint and Rehab Program. They worked in challenging conditions: heat, humidity and rain. A beach party planned in their honor had to be moved to the High School due to threatening storms. Randy Bishop, Township Committeeman and Chair of the World Changers Planning Committee, visited the work sites and offered encouragement. Our community partners made substantial contributions to the success of the project. They included: American Red Cross (cots), FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties (daily lunches and bbq), NJ Natural Gas (underwrote cost of food for bbq), Meridian Health (linens and T-shirts), Lasenda Church (lunches), Board of Education and High School: lodging for all students and adult staff and OG Camp Meeting Assn, free access to the beach. Missions 101, Habitat for Humanity and Freehold Pride met with the Committee in determining what projects were best suited for their program.
