This is the true story of Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years.
After the ship is taken over, Captain Phillips saves his crew but is then taken hostage and held for ransom. When the pirates attempt to take Captain Phillips back to Somalia, the US Navy arrives to stop them even if they have to lose Phillips.
This dramatic thriller is not to be missed.
