Celebrate Passport Day in the U.S.A.
Monmouth County Connection to offer free gifts
NEPTUNE, NJ –The Monmouth County Connection, the first satellite office of county government in Monmouth County, will celebrate Passport Day in the U.S.A. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with free gifts to all passport applicants. No appointment is necessary at the office, which is located at 3544 State Highway 66 in the strip mall adjacent to Home Depot, Neptune.
Passport Day in the U.S.A. was established by the federal government in 2009 to reach out to U.S. citizens with an annual event providing convenient and valuable passport services to customers. This year, the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs is focusing on family travel.
The County Connection’s convenient Saturday and evening hours ensure most parents don’t have to miss work to apply for their child’s passport. The federally-authorized passport agency is child-friendly with a kids play area, books for reading, and computers for the teens.
Monmouth County Clerk M. Claire French reminds parents that passports for children under the age of 16 expire every five years, and to apply for a passport for a child under the age of 16, both parents and the child need to appear in person or bring a notarized consent form—which is available from the County Connection—signed by the non-appearing parent.
Furthermore, if your next vacation or business trip takes you outside the U.S.—even to Canada, the Caribbean, Bahamas or Mexico—you need a passport. If you are unsure of costs and what documents are needed, please call them at 732-303-2828.
The Monmouth County Connection is located on Highway 66 in Neptune across the street from Walmart. This new office offers a variety of services including passport photos, free notary public, veterans’ IDs, election/voter information, senior and veterans’ services, public access computers and more. The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The County Connection is under the direction of County Clerk M.
