Winter Storm Sunday
Local Snow Emergency Declared

Friday 1/23 8:00PM - Neptune Township has declared a local snow emergency as agencies prepare for this weekend’s winter storm. Snow parking regulations will begin Saturday, 1/24 at 8:00 AM (see details below). The National Weather Service forecasts about 13” of snow, with the heaviest snowfall on Sunday morning (1–2” per hour). Snow will begin early Sunday, changing to sleet and freezing rain Sunday afternoon and evening, causing significant ice accumulation. Temperatures will drop into the single digits for several nights, and travel on Sunday is expected to be extremely dangerous. Residents are strongly urged to complete all preparedness steps on Saturday as travel is expected to be nearly impossible on Sunday. As with any major winter storm, power outages, extreme cold, and other storm-related impacts are possible.

SNOW PARKING ALERT: A Snow Emergency Declaration and Snow Parking Ordinance will go into effect for Neptune Township and Ocean Grove at 8:00AM on Saturday, 1/24. All vehicles must be moved on Saturday, prior to the start of the snowfall, to ensure Public Works can begin plowing as soon as the heavy snow begins early Sunday morning. Vehicles in Ocean Grove must be parked as indicated by the posted signs, and vehicles in the rest of Neptune Township must be parked on the odd-numbered side of the street. Vehicles not parked in accordance with the ordinance may be contacted by the NTPD, and are subject to being ticketed or towed.
