NOTICE is hereby given that there is an opening for Chaplain in the Neptune Township Police Department on an as needed basis, as requested by the Chief of Police.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate shall be an ordained clergy member in good standing with the religious body from which he/she is selected. Candidate should have a basic knowledge of the duties of law enforcement officers and shall conform to all police procedures and departmental regulations, insofar as applicable, and shall be credentialed in accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-141.

Candidate must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license and pass a criminal history and background check completed by the police department. Candidate must not be under indictment, on bail pending court, parole, probation, or in any way be associated with any current criminal court proceedings or convicted of any offense involving moral turpitude. Candidate may not be in support or involved in any questionable activity or subversive activity against the government entity. Prior to appointment, candidate must attend and successfully complete an approved Basic Police Chaplain Training Course, if not currently certified.

Interested candidates shall submit a resume, with a copy of ordained clergy certifications and copies of any other certifications that are relevant to this position, to Stephanie Oppegaard, Human Resources Director at soppegaard@neptunetownship.org no later than Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
