Neptune’s 15th Annual Touch a Truck Fun for All

Press Release               For immediate release                  7/14/17

Neptune’s 15th Annual Touch a Truck Fun for All

If you were anywhere near Neptune Middle School on Heck Avenue on Wednesday evening, July 12, you couldn’t help but stop by to check out all the commotion that started just as the dark clouds moved away!

There was a spray truck, a police car, a school bus, ambulances, fire trucks, a steamroller, emergency vehicles, rescue trucks, a garbage truck, and a loader.  Sounds like an interesting traffic jam; only this packed parking lot was planned!  Neptune’s fifteenth annual Touch A Truck parking lot featured real sirens, big steering wheels, about 25 vehicles, and larger than life excitement.

Children and adults could sound the siren on a rescue truck, try on emergency gear, climb the rock wall, get their faces painted, and sit in the driver’s seat of a front end loader!

The young and young at heart “drove” to their hearts content, and the younger crowd enjoyed temporary tattoos, balloon creations, cotton candy, and a huge fire truck slide!

Blasting sirens, flashing lights, and smiling faces were just a few of the things you saw or heard as children could climb into a truck, ask questions, sound a horn, and let their imaginations run wild. Anyone who heard the excitement came to see what all the noise and lights were about.

Thanks to countless individual volunteers, and to the following organizations for their support: the Neptune Office of Emergency Management, ANSWER, Neptune Emergency Medical Services, Neptune Department of Public Works, Neptune Police Department, Liberty Fire Company, Shark River Hills Fire Co, Shark River Hills Ladies Auxiliary, Hamilton Fire Company, Shark River Hills First Aid, Neptune First Aid, Armstrong Tree Service, Monmouth County Park System, Neptune Recreation Department, the Neptune Township Committee, the Neptune Township Board of Education.
